Thomas Woodward succession petition, 1864.

Photocopy of a draft of a petition filed by Thomas Q. Harrison in Winn Parish, Louisiana, concerning the legal custody of Sallie Ann May, an orphaned minor who was entrusted to the tutorship of Harrison through the provisions of Thomas Woodward's will, which also bequeathed to her several hundred dollars a year and a larger sum when she reached adulthood. In the petition, Harrison requests a meeting of the family in order to discuss the girl's case and appoint a more suitable guardian for her. Orders are annexed to the petition. Draft is signed by A.H. Pierson, attorney for the petitioners.
